Walton County To Receive $3.5M in Grant Funding

Walton County, FL, 10/21/26 – Walton County is among 10 rural communities in Florida to receive funding from the Florida Department of Commerce Rural Infrastructure Funds (RIF) Program. On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, it was announced by Governor Ron DeSantis that Walton County will receive $3.5 million dollars for infrastructure improvements to support economic development.

Alex Kelly, Secretary for Florida Commerce, said, “We had $194 million in RIF applications for $27 million in funds, so it was incredibly competitive.”

As a result, the Northwest Florida Commerce Park in Mossy Head will soon see a new ingress-egress into the commerce park from US Hwy. 90. This will help provide opportunities for economic growth and job retention in Walton County.
